This past month on March 17th and 18th, Taylor Swift performed the first two shows of her highly anticipated Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. After the intense battle fans had to go through just to get tickets to the shows, Swift had big shoes to fill, and I have to say she did not disappoint. Taking the audience through a journey of all her different album eras, Swift had a total of 16 costume changes and that was just for night one. Night two consisted of even more new looks.

Lover:

To open the show, Swift started with her album Lover (2019), a poppy upbeat album with pinks, purples, and blues as its backdrop. For night one, Swift rose onto the stage in a custom silver and pink rhinestone Versace bodysuit and custom rhinestone red-bottom Louboutin boots. I found the Louboutins to be incredibly appropriate for the Eras Tour because the shoes often represent powerful women, and this tour is Swift’s first tour in which she owns a majority of her songs after re-recording her entire discography.

Fearless:

From one glittery era to the next, Swift transitioned from Lover to Fearless, her second album, and came out on stage in yet another bedazzled ensemble. As Fearless, the song, began to play Taylor came skipping out in a gold-fringe dress complete with rhinestone Louboutin boots and a fully bedazzled six-string guitar (which was hand-glued by both her parents the night before the opening show).

Evermore:

For the next era, Evermore, Swift wore a much more relaxed outfit, similar to its corresponding album. Reflecting this narrative, Swift wore a long burnt-orange flowy dress with delicate gold leaf details. The dress was in direct correlation with Evermore's album cover, a burnt-orange plaid jacket, and the background of a forest. I honestly would not have expected anything different for this era's costume. Every detail was a perfect fit!

Reputation:

After a more solemn and relaxed period with Evermore, Swift jumped back into the drama with her next era, Reputation. Swift rose from the stage in an asymmetrical jumpsuit with a red crystallized snake crawling up her leg and torso designed by Roberto Cavalli. I found her bodysuit to be a fantastic choice for this era. Swift appeared sexy and commanding in the look, two very fitting words to summarize the album.

Speak Now:

The next outfit, Taylor only wore for one quick song, Enchanted off of her album Speak Now. After a dramatic transition from her dark Reputation era to a much more fairytale-like performance, Swift walked out in a gorgeous Nicole + Felicia couture sparkly ballgown. On night two of The Eras Tour, Swift wore a different dress with a rhinestone starburst shape, also designed by Nicole + Felicia

Couture.

Red:

The next era had to be one of the most anticipated of the entire show. Swift had some big expectations to meet for the performance of her 2012 album, Red.

For the more emotional song, Taylor wore a red and black crystallized bodysuit with a matching trench coat, appropriate for the song’s chilly and fall aesthetic.

Folklore:

Swift took the audience to another world once more for her Folklore album. For night one she wore a lilac-colored gown by Alberta Ferretti with dramatic oversized sleeves and delicate lace appliques. For night two, she wore a dress with the same level of drama but in an ivory color with large draped shoulder cape pieces, also custom designed by Alberta Ferretti.

1989:

Swift was sure to keep us on this rollercoaster of emotions back and forth from emotional acoustic albums to fast-paced pop albums. She next took us into the 1989 era, the first album she released that was fully considered a pop album. She went from a vintage and classy look for Red to a modern and trendy look for the new album. The Eras Tour outfits for 1989 weren’t quite as nostalgic as some of the others, but the hot pink crystal two-piece skirt set was still distinguishably inspired by that era. On night two, Taylor wore the same two-piece in a bright green shade. Both sets were designed by Roberto Cavalli.

Midnights:

Finally, we arrived at the most recent and final era of the tour, the Midnight's era. Reflective of the album cover and a few music videos, the album has a retro 60’s, and 70’s feel to it as well. Lavender Haze was the first song to play and Swift wore a purple faux fur coat and under it a sequined t-shirt dress by Oscar de la Renta.
